Many cigar smokers think that there are far less dangers of cigar smoking than of cigarette smoking, that the danger of cancer is not as high and that cigar smoking is not as addictive as cigarette smoking. At the same time, many researchers are stressing the dangers of cigar smoking, in connection to cancer and to other kinds of diseases and the fact that it can be as addictive as cigar smoking. More and more people are taking up cigar smoking and as part of a general cigar smoking guide it would always be important to stress some significant dangers of cigar smoking as well.

Is Cigar Smoking Addictive?

The nicotine content of cigars is very high, a single cigar can contain as much nicotine as a pack of cigarettes, or even more. If cigar smoke is inhaled like cigarettes, it enters the bloodstream through the lungs. And as cigar smokers do not usually inhale smoke they often emphasize the insignificance of the dangers of cigar smoking. However, cigar smoke is more alkaline than cigarette smoke, it breaks down in the saliva and nicotine is absorbed through the lining of the mouth. This absorption of nicotine in both cases can make cigars really addictive. Researchers claim thus, that most of the cigar smokers simply become addicted.

Cigar Smoking And Cancer

The dangers of cigar smoking also come up in relation to cancer. Cigar smoking can cause oral, lip, tongue, mouth and throat cancer, lung cancer, cancer of the pancreas and of the bladder. Cigar smoking can double the risk of developing cancers, and those who smoke as many as 3-4 cigars daily, increase the risk of oral cancer by 8 times, for example. The risk of lung cancer is slightly less than the risk for cigarette smokers as many do not inhale cigar smoke. The dangers of cigar smoking regarding developing cancers is really significant, as can be seen, so those smoking cigars should decide if the enjoyment of cigar smoking is worth these dangers.

Other Developing Illnesses

The dangers of cigar smoking can be seen in other possibly developing diseases as well. Cigar smoking increases the risk of coronary heart diseases by 27 percent and smokers are at a 45 percent increased risk of chronic obtrusive lung diseases. Cigar smoking is often linked to early tooth loss as well, a research concluded that those smoking cigars were 30 percent more likely to lose their teeth than nonsmokers. Cigar smoking can cause erectile dysfunction as well, smokers are twice as likely to be impotent as nonsmokers, as smoking affects the nervous system and circulation.

People smoke cigars for enjoyment, not because they are stressed or have a craving for nicotine for example, that are the reasons of the majority of cigarette smokers. And there are definitely many dangers of cigar smoking, just like dangers of cigarette smoking do exist. However, this article will focus mainly on enjoying cigar smoking and will give some cigar smoking tips, to make your experience possibly the most enjoyable.

How To Enjoy?

After selecting the perfect cigar, you have to give yourself ample time to enjoy smoking, as one of the most important cigar smoking tips. Enjoy your cigars in moderation, partly because of the dangers and partly because it can be enjoyed the best if you are not smoking cigars all the time. You can choose a larger, thicker cigar to smoke, like a Churchill for example, but make sure before that you have at least an hour to enjoy your smoke. If you have less time, choose a milder cigar. You can select any time of the day, though as a cigar smoking tip I would recommend the time after a big meal or a hard day’s work, relaxing in your armchair. You also have to select a suitable location, a cigar lounge, with friends or family, or alone, sitting quietly in your room or outside in your garden.

What To Drink With Your Cigar

A good cigar smoking tip is to think about what to drink with your cigar. Choosing the suitable beverage is considered by many as the most important factor in your cigar smoking enjoyment, besides the cigar itself, of course. Many drinks will go with milder cigars, however, with a larger cigar you should perhaps make sure that your drink is not overpowered by the flavor of your cigar; choose coffee drinks, brandy or scotch for example. You can also drink wines while smoking cigars; experiment with what is best for you. Of course, you can choose any non-alcoholic drinks as well to accompany your cigar and to complement your experience.

Smoke Rings

Smoke rings look cool, and reading about cigar smoking tips, many will want to know about blowing smoke rings. Well, you have to practice a lot, and you will surely be able to blow smoke rings. Firstly, try blowing smoke rings in a closed space, definitely not outside on a windy day. Draw a puff into your mouth, hold it there and open your mouth to shape an ’O’. Bend the tip of your tongue down, pull it back, and push forward with your tongue. While blowing smoke rings you are not actually exhaling, you are just pushing out the smoke with the help of your tongue. With lots of practice anyone will be able to blow smoke rings.

The smoking of cigars has been a popular way of smoking tobacco. This is due to the fact that cigars, for some, have a pleasant taste and smell. In addition, smoking a cigar smoking can allow the person to sit back, relax and take time to ponder the deeper things of life.

Also, cigars have always been a symbol of affluence. This is because cigars are generally more expensive due to the fact that the more expensive brands are hand rolled and made from tobacco leafs that are from other countries.

In addition, in order to enjoy the cigar, there are steps that need to be taken in preparation before the cigar can be enjoyed. One of those steps is the cutting off of the cap of the cigar.

Therefore, if considering the smoking of cigars, it is important to choose the best cigar cutter. In order to choose the best cigar cutter, there are many variables to take into consideration. Those considerations in choosing the best cigar cutter is to understand the different cutters available, how they perform and what best suit the individual needs.

Different Cutters Available

Before deciding on the best cigar cutter to purchase, it is important to understand what cigar cutters are available and how they work. This is because there are many cutters on the market and each perform the needed function in different ways.

One of the popular cutters is the double bladed cigar cutter. This cutter expands to reveal an aperture when the thumb and forefinger are placed in the appropriate slots and flexed outwardly at the same time. After the cap of the cigar is placed in the hole that appears the reversed action is taken which then snips off the cap. This is because on either side of the hole are cutting blades.

Another type of cigar cutter is the wedge cigar cutter. Many cigar smokers think that is the best cigar cutter because this device simply makes a wedge-like incision into the cigar rather than completely cutting off the cap.

One additional style of cigar cutter that cigar enthusiasts think is the best cigar cutter is the punch cigar cutter. This device simply punches a small hole into the end of the cigar so that the cigar smoke can escape.

What Best Suits The Smoker’s Need

When wanting to choose the best cigar cutter, the choice should be dependent on a number of factors. Those factors should include the smoking habits of the cigar smoker.

For example, if the individual smokes a number of cigars during the course of the day they may choose to purchase a cigar cutter that is convenient to carry and operate. Based on these criteria it would probably be best to use a puncture or double blade cigar cutter. This is because they can be conveniently carried in the pocket or on a key chain. One cutter that would not be convenient would be a scissor cigar cutter.

In addition, if an individual smokes a cigar and does not have a place to dispose of the cap of the cigar they may choose the puncture cigar cutter as the best cigar cutter.

Smoking a cigar can be a pleasurable experience. This is due to the fact that a good cigar will have a rich taste and emit a wonderful aroma.

Also, smoking a cigar allows the individual to pause and take in the surroundings. This in turn may stimulate the mind to reflect upon the good things in life and appreciate them more fully. Also, smoking a cigar may, with other cigar smokers, provide a venue to interact with one another and help to facilitate conversations.

In order to fully enjoy the cigar there are certain preparatory steps that need to be taken. One of those steps is to cut off the end of the cigar that is placed in the mouth. This allows for the full circulation of air through the cigar and for the smoker to draw the cigar smoke into their mouth.

This preparatory step can be accomplished in a number of ways. One of those stylish ways is through the use of a cigar cutter. Specifically one of those cutters is known as a double blade cigar cutter.

What Is A Double Blade Cigar Cutter

One of the more popular cigar cutters preferred by cigar smokers is the double blade cigar cutter. This is because of the way that this tool for cutting off the cap of the cigar is constructed.

Specifically, the double blade cigar cutter is a compact tool that easily expands for use. This expansion occurs when the individual puts their thumb and forefinger into the looped area on either side of the double blade cigar cutter. The opening then appears when the individual extends their thumb and forefinger outwardly. When this is accomplished an aperture appears in the middle of the cutter revealing the double blades. Following this the cap of the cigar is placed in the space and the reverse process is then accomplished which cuts the cigar.

The Advantages Of This Type Of Cutter

There are many advantages of utilizing the double blade cigar cutter. One of those advantages is its compact design. For example another cigar cutter is the scissor cigar cutter. Although an effective tool to remove the cap of the cigar, the scissor cigar cutter is shaped like a pair of scissors and generally has large handles to facilitate the cutting process. Unlike the scissor cigar cutter, the double blade cigar cutter is extremely compact and easily carried around in the pocket or on a key chain.

Another advantage to having a double blade cigar cutter is that, dependent on the style and make, this type of cutter is fairly inexpensive. This can prove to be a good thing if the cutter is lost or borrowed and is not returned.

A Cuba cigar roller, or torcedores, is a skilled craftsman who hand rolls cigars in Cuba. The Cuban cigar rollers are so skilled that they are highly sought after and will travel showing people how to roll cigars. Many times people will ask what makes a Cuban cigar roller better than other kinds of cigar rollers; well it is the simple fact that a Cuban cigar roller spends so much more time practicing their craft and is a highly respected member of the community. A Cuban cigar roller is not just a Cuban cigar roller, but rather a respected member of the community.

How To Properly Roll A Cigar

There are several steps to properly rolling a cigar. While you never will be on the skill level of a Cuban cigar roller, by following these simple instructions you at least can have something that you created to smoke. All you need after that is a light and a cigar cutter.

The first step is to choose your filler, binder, and wrapper tobacco. Most of these can be purchased at a local tobacconist, but if not you can purchase it online. After you have chosen your material you need to shred the filler leaves. You can also leave them whole, but need to smooth the folds out from the whole leaves. The filler determines how strong your cigar will be and you will more than likely have to try different blends until you find one you like.

After that you need to prepare the binder leaf or leaves. Remove the rib with scissors and smooth out all the folds. For large cigars you will need more than one leaf. After this is done you need to prepare the wrapper leaf. Remove the rib then smooth the leaf lightly with your hands or even more lightly with an iron.

Lay out the binder leaf on a flat surface and take you filler leaves and place them on top of it. Do not bunch them up too tight or to loose, leave enough space for the cigar to burn nicely. Spread a small amount of adhesive on the edge of the binder leaf and wrap it around the filler. Roll this up into a loose cigar shape then trim away the excess leaf on the ends. Next is the wrapper leaf. Trim this to the right size then secure the wrapper with a small amount of adhesive. Use a small amount of adhesive to attach a small piece of the wrapper leaf to one end leaving the other side open. Roll it up, let it sit for a while and age properly, smoke and enjoy!
