A Cuba cigar roller, or torcedores, is a skilled craftsman who hand rolls cigars in Cuba. The Cuban cigar rollers are so skilled that they are highly sought after and will travel showing people how to roll cigars. Many times people will ask what makes a Cuban cigar roller better than other kinds of cigar rollers; well it is the simple fact that a Cuban cigar roller spends so much more time practicing their craft and is a highly respected member of the community. A Cuban cigar roller is not just a Cuban cigar roller, but rather a respected member of the community.

How To Properly Roll A Cigar

There are several steps to properly rolling a cigar. While you never will be on the skill level of a Cuban cigar roller, by following these simple instructions you at least can have something that you created to smoke. All you need after that is a light and a cigar cutter.

The first step is to choose your filler, binder, and wrapper tobacco. Most of these can be purchased at a local tobacconist, but if not you can purchase it online. After you have chosen your material you need to shred the filler leaves. You can also leave them whole, but need to smooth the folds out from the whole leaves. The filler determines how strong your cigar will be and you will more than likely have to try different blends until you find one you like.

After that you need to prepare the binder leaf or leaves. Remove the rib with scissors and smooth out all the folds. For large cigars you will need more than one leaf. After this is done you need to prepare the wrapper leaf. Remove the rib then smooth the leaf lightly with your hands or even more lightly with an iron.

Lay out the binder leaf on a flat surface and take you filler leaves and place them on top of it. Do not bunch them up too tight or to loose, leave enough space for the cigar to burn nicely. Spread a small amount of adhesive on the edge of the binder leaf and wrap it around the filler. Roll this up into a loose cigar shape then trim away the excess leaf on the ends. Next is the wrapper leaf. Trim this to the right size then secure the wrapper with a small amount of adhesive. Use a small amount of adhesive to attach a small piece of the wrapper leaf to one end leaving the other side open. Roll it up, let it sit for a while and age properly, smoke and enjoy!

When choosing a cigar it is best to pick from truly authentic Cuban cigars. The following are my three favorite authentic Cuban cigars and each has its own unique flavor and characteristic, complete with full back story. They have all been hand rolled by a Cuban cigar roller, so each is a representation of the pinnacle of authentic Cuban cigars.

The Three Best Authentic Cuban Cigars

First up is the Sir Winston from H. Upmann. H. Upmann is perhaps one of the most famous of all the cigar manufacturers form Cuba. This is their premier cigar. It is a hardy smoke not for the timid. It is meant to be enjoyed in relaxation with a strong drink. Take time with this one to experience all its complex flavors and discover what ranks it among the best of authentic Cuban cigars. There are other cigars, but for me this one is the best because it is such an iconic smoke.

Next up is the Number 2 cigar from Cohiba. Cohiba was originally only smoked by Cuban diplomats and was not available to the public. These cigars were the choice of Castro, and if he was still smoking today these would be what he would have. He has since quit, but Cohiba continues to produce some of the finest authentic Cuban cigars that you can buy. Their other varieties are delicious as well, but the number 2 does it for me.

Last up is the number 4 cigar from Monte Cristo. Monte Cristo sells more of these cigars than any other cigar made in Cuba, and with good reason. This could be the epitome of authentic Cuban cigars in that they are most commonly seen outside Cuba. I like the smoke of the number four, but I would not count it among my personal favorites.

There you have it, three different cigars to go out and try. It is up to you as to which one you like best, but all three are authentic Cuban cigars that represent well what is a quality cigar. While other nations may make cigars, there is only one Cuba and one Cuban cigar. These three represent what it is to be a Cuban cigar very well and any aficionado would be proud to have any of these three in his personal collection. Next time you get a chance, try any and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Get out there and smoke today.

The Cuban Cigar Review – Finding The Best [...]

There are many Cuban cigars available so I am going to do a Cuban cigar review of some of the best. The following are three different cigars so that you can one for yourself. All three are true authentic Cuban cigars, so smoke each and enjoy.

The Cuban Cigar Review – Finding The Best Cuban Cigar

First up in our Cuban cigar review is the Sir Winston from H. Upmann cigars. H. Upmann is the most famous of all the cigar manufacturers out of Cuba, and the Sir Winston is the signature cigar. H. Upmans are primarily known as being between a mild and medium smoke, and this cigar is not an acceptation to that. It is obviously a Churchill sized cigar, meaning that it is on the large side as far as cigars go. It has a grand splendor and noble appearance that never ceases to excite even the most discerning of cigar smokers. This is a big smoke for a big smoker, so do not indulge in this cigar unless you are ready. It goes well with rich foods and heady wines and liquors. This is an absolute must try if you consider yourself to be at all a fan of cigars.

Next up in the Cuban cigar review is the Number Four Reserve from Monte Cristo. Monte Cristo is another famous cigar maker from Cuba, and this cigar qualifies as one the best Cuban cigars ever made. This cigar was manufactured to celebrate the fact that Monte Cristo produced the best selling cigars of all time. There were five thousand boxes of limited supply made, so it may be difficult to get one. If you can you are in for a real treat as this is one of the best Cuban cigars ever to be wrapped. This cigar has a slight leather flavor with many complex notes. It is nearly impossible to describe without having one, so seek it out and try one for yourself.

Last up in the Cuban cigar review is a personal favorite of mine – the Secretos Maduro Five from Cohiba Cigars. This full flavored cigar is absolutely my go to smoke. I love to try new things, but when I am looking for a good cigar and nothing else will do this is the one I go for. Cohiba cigars were introduced in nineteen sixty eight and original were meant only as protocol cigars exclusively for Cuban officials and diplomats. Eventually Cohiba cigars were released to the general populace and today remain the true King of the Cubans as well as being Castro’s favorite smoke, until he quit.

Hopefully you now have some cigars to go out and try on your own.
